5th August - Oulton Park Island - Ian's dominance continues...
Ian had another dominant victory at Oulton Park (Cheshire) bringing his total to five wins from seven races & finishing a credible ninth overall. The day began well with a good qualifying session netting another class pole position and 14th overall with a margin of 2.8 seconds over his nearest rival.
Ian made a good start and picked up four places on the opening lap before settling into his rhythm and breaking the class record in only his second lap of the race. On lap four, Ian moved up another place to ninth overall when one of the FR2000 class cars ran into trouble, by this point Ian was already 20 seconds clear of his nearest class rival.
Ian eventually finished the race in ninth position after a hectic three car fight with two FR2000 class cars. "I did think there was a chance of getting 8th, but I just could not quite get close enough in the areas where I was quicker". After setting new lap recirds throughout the race Ian left the Club Class record at a time of 1min 25.868s, an average speed of 93.32mph and just under three seconds faster than the old record.
Ian now has a healthy 33 poin lead in the championship.
