Ian ends year on a low...
After an excellent test day on the Friday where Ian was lapping a staggering 1.5 seconds under his own lap record at the Cheshire circuit thing’s started to go down hill. Ian struggled to get many clear laps & get into a rhythm, setting a time 0.5 second slower than he had done the previous day. This time was still fast enough to claim the class pole position by other 2 seconds & 16th overall out of the 26 qualifiers.
Ian’s race was destined to come to an early end though, after making a good start Ian got caught up in a tangle of cars from the front of the grid, damaging his front wings & a wheel. Ian was forced to watch the rest of the race from behind the barrier at the first corner. Ian commented “it’s a real shame; I love this circuit and was really hoping for a good run, these things happen, roll on next year!”
